4 D's To Dealing With Your Piles

"Some persons are very decisive when it comes to avoiding decisions." - Brendan Francis

Items pile up on our desk and in both our physical and electronic Inboxes often because we don't decide what to do, we can't pull the trigger. Here's a quick cheat sheet to help make that decision.

Delete - Throw it away, get rid of it, decide that you don't need it anymore and could find it again one day if you needed it.
Defer - Don't have time to deal with it right now, decide to defer. Put the item on your to do/task list to make sure you follow up with it, and then file it away.
Delegate - If it isn't yours to deal with, then passing it on to the appropriate person is key. Make sure you have a good system of follow up and put a reminder in your system.
Do - Just get it done, stop delaying and giving yourself reasons you can't do it, finish it and cross it off your list.
