Save Time By Improving Your Reading Skills

It's pretty common for me to consult with a client and find a "To Read" paper pile or electronic folder. And usually, this folder or pile remains untouched and full. One way to tackle your reading is to save time by more efficient reading skills. In his book, Use Both Sides Of Your Brain, Tony Buzan lists some ways to read faster and more proficiently:

Use your finger: Children often learn to read by "sweeping" the words they are reading with their fingers. Buzan challenges adults to use their finger and move it faster, giving their eyes an aid and a smooth rhythmical habit.

Expand your focus: Practice reading more than one line at a time - great for light reading material, overviewing, and previewing.

High speed perception: Try turning the pages of what you're reading as fast as possible, attempting to see as many words per page as possible. This will increase your ability to take in large groups of words and will condition the mind to much more rapid and efficient general reading practices.
