Improve Productivity By Asking "What Do I Want?"

What do I want? I was recently asked this question in relation to a parenting issue and I realized that I was getting 'stuck in the weeds', concentrating on non-important details and not focusing on what I really wanted from the situation. I was letting items like wanting to control the circumstance and wanting to prove a point, get in the way of the outcome.

The next time you're in a power struggle with someone, having conflicting opinions, or feeling the need to control things that are out of your control, ask yourself "What do I want" out of this? By taking a step back from the interaction and getting clear on the precise outcome, you can limit wasted energy and time on minutiae, make better decisions, and make more out of your day.
